EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of therapy designed to help people process and heal from traumatic memories. During a session, the therapist uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation (like tapping or sounds) while the person recalls distressing events. This helps the brain reprocess the memories, reducing their emotional charge and allowing the person to think about them in a more balanced way. EMDR is often used to treat trauma, PTSD, and anxiety, and it aims to help individuals move past their pain and regain a sense of peace and control.

Somatic psychotherapy is a type of therapy that focuses on the connection between the body and mind to help heal emotional trauma and stress. It recognizes that past experiences, especially traumatic ones, can be stored in the body, affecting how we feel and behave. In somatic therapy, clients are encouraged to notice physical sensations, tension, or movement in their bodies as they talk about their emotions or experiences. By bringing awareness to these sensations and gently working through them, somatic therapy helps release stored emotions, promote relaxation, and foster healing, aiming to bring a deeper sense of balance and well-being.

IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy is a psychological approach that views the mind as made up of different “parts,” each representing various emotions, behaviors, or inner voices. These parts might include a critical voice, an anxious part, or a wounded inner child. The therapy aims to help these parts communicate and work together harmoniously, with the goal of healing trauma, resolving internal conflicts, and fostering self-compassion. IFS focuses on accessing a calm, centered “Self” to guide and heal these parts, allowing people to better understand and manage their emotions and behaviors.
